Week 12 Report: The Icemen of Nesconset Cometh

June 29, 2010

The Snowmen are back on top after relinquishing the lead in Week 11 to the Filthy. The Icemen of Nesconset are up 65-61 over the Dirty Dogs after Sunday’s action after leading the league in Runs (55), Steals (11), Wins (5) and WHIP (1.11) in Week 12… Chone Figgins racked up seven steals (21) for the Frost…Nesconset is starting to get the Fever for the Freeze…

Swipin’ bags for the BEML-leading Snowmen…Chone Figgins.

Not involved whatsoever with the rise of the 2010 Snowmen…outspoken British atheist Chris Hitchens.

The Dirty Dogs had a difficult week, with just five HRs and 31 RBI. The Dirty are hurty, having lost both Dustin Pedroia and V-Mart in the past week to injury…

The third-place Barracudas actually landed in first for a moment in Week 12, before falling back (10 points out)…They led the league in HRs (18) and BA (.316) in Week 12 but posted an uncharacteristically bad ERA (6.52) and league-worst WHIP (1.77)…Tommy Hanson (24 hits and walks in 7.3 IP, 17.18 ERA) and Matt Cain (7 ER in 2.7 IP, 23.63 ERA) were just crushed…Justin Upton tried to pick up the slack (.571/3/5/1)…

Pounded mercilessly in Week 12: the Cudas’ Tommy Hanson…

…not Ted Danson…

…or Charles Manson.

Seymour Gardens at Schwab Park is tied with the Cudas for third place despite hitting just .241 in Week 12…recent free-agent acquisition Jose Bautista is not looking so hot for the Gardens so far, as he is hitting just .158 (9-for-57)…

Recently welcomed to Schwab Park: soul-patched Seymour Gardens 3B/OF Jose Bautista…

…not 18th century Spanish explorer Juan Bautista.

The wily (fifth-place, 12 points back) Craydawgs are starting to pick things up in the pitching department, posting a 2.90 ERA with BEML-best 66 Ks in Week 12…Jon Lester had 15 Ks in 15 IP with a 1.20 ERA and now has a 2.00 ERA over 85 IP for the Dawgs…Kevin “The Crushin’ Russian” Kouzmanoff has filled in nicely for the injury-riddled Aramis Ramirez in June, posting a .353 BA (24-for-68)…

The George Kents held steady in 6th place (16.5 points back)…Josh Johnson is vying with the Dogs’ Ubaldo J for the 2010 Maddux Award (1.83 ERA/0.96 WHIP, 107 Ks)… Project Mayhem (23 points back) led the league with 54 RBI in Week 12…Free agent rookie pickup Brennan Boesch is 10-for-31 with 3 HRs and 9 BI…Mayhem struck gold with Scott Rolen this season at a $0.50 salary: .300/16/50…The Bears plunged 10 points into eighth place (27.5 points back) and posted a 7.15 ERA on the week…A.J. Burnett led the fall, with a 16.71 ERA over seven innings…Wolfpack may just yet get out of the basement this year (32 points back)…The Pack posted a BEML-low 2.79 ERA, led by the resurgent Jake Peavy (7 IP, 0 ER, 9 Ks, W)…David Wright is back too (.300/14/61/13).
